Papers, 1832-1875.

Consists almost entirely of business and professional correspondence, also including a diary, scrapbook, receipt book, and account book. The diary, 1832-1838, reveals Arnold's experiences as a young physician, describes various aspects of Savannah social life, and contains a lengthy account of a duel and an account of a visit by General Winfield Scott. The indexed scrapbook contains news clippings on a variety of subjects such as local and national politics, railroads and taxation, health and medicine, opera and drama, and the Civil War. The receipt book shows both household and medical expenditures for 1848-1859. The account book contains the records of estates which Arnold administered.
